No one ever imagined that an unmanned aircraft could capture sporting event footage, deliver resources during disasters, help in disease control, or assist with weather forecasting. But the right mix of innovation, science, and technology turned this to reality.

Drones are gaining a lot of attention in the 21st century. These are aircrafts that do not require any piloting. They were earlier used primarily for military operations, but nowadays many civilian roles like search, weather monitoring, photography, videography, agriculture, and rescue also require drones.

FACT #1

ISRAEL- the first country to build drones

Though the United States is the largest producer and consumer of drone technology, Israel pioneered the use of these unmanned vehicles after the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. Israel is one of the world leaders when it comes to innovating existing technology to fight any menace that engulfs them. Israel manufactured the very first operating system related to drones, which helped them face the threats of the 1970s and early 1980s. They facilitated the expansion of UAVs i.e. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and emerged as a leader in the world of drone technology.

Real Estate Market and Drones

Interestingly, drone technology is transmuting the way the real estate market operates. One great feature of drones is their ability to take ravishing cinematic 360-degree photos and videos which make them an asset for real estate agents. Drones are used both by commercial and residential real estate agents to create detailed and beautiful images of the plots that ultimately end up attracting the prospects. Additionally, the video tours add efficiency to the marketing operations and make the experience interactive.

Drone technology if used right can act as a game-changer in the real estate arena and become lucrative for the agents.

The most expensive military drone costs around $1 billion, expensive enough?

The Northrop Grumman X-47B is a tailless unmanned combat air system designed to help the U.S. navy determine the future of unmanned carrier invasion. It is 38 feet long with a 62-foot wingspan and can easily reach a speed of 700 miles per hour. After having conducted the first-ever Autonomous Aerial Refueling of an unmanned aircraft in April 2015, it created history in the aviation industry. This magnificent drone was developed by Northrop Grumman, an American global aerospace and defense technology company for $1.4 billion.

Big corporates and Drones?

According to cnbc.com Amazon has received the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration for the Prime Air drone delivery fleet. The e-commerce giant said that it will use drones to deliver packages to customers “within months” in 2019. “Prime Air” a future delivery system designed by Amazon, promises to deliver packages to customers within 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles. Working upon the same lines, Domino’s is also testing drones for their delivery process. UAV pizza delivery became a reality in November 2016, when Domino’s, with its drone delivery partner Flirtey, delivered an order in Whangaparaoa, New Zealand.

And there we have it, some of the most interesting and intriguing facts about these flying robots. Very soon drones would become a common sight in the skies. Its myriad of uses has enabled entrepreneurs, hobbyists, and businesses to search for different ways to utilize its power.
